Here’s a guide to our space
Public Picks - What’s Growing?
-
This is our pollinator plot. These plants attract beneficial insects to help pollinate our plants!
-
Currently growing tomatoes (Yellow Pear and Cherry) and asparagus. Harvest the Yellow Pear tomatoes when they are a bright yellow and about 1.5” long in size. Harvest the Cherry tomatoes when they are a bright red in color. Asparagus should be harvested when it is about 1’ or less above the soil. Once it has shoots, it will be too tough to eat. Snap from the base when harvesting.
-
The cooking herb plot - look for basil, oregano, mint, parsley, and rosemary!
-
Currently growing a variety of edible plants courtesy of our youngest gardeners at De Zavala elementary school!
-
Currently growing chocolate bell pepper! Once these dark chocolatey brown bell peppers are mature, snap from the stalk and enjoy as you would a regular bell pepper! description
-
Currently growing red potatoes, red onion, and white onion! For the red potatoes, once the foliage has turned yellow, withered, and died back you can dig out the potatoes at the base of the stalk. The red and yellow onions will be ready for harvest when you see a bulb at the base of the foliage roughly 4-5” in diameter.

Public Picks
We all get by with a little help from our friends. Signage in the garden designates our Public Picks for the community. We encourage visitors to help us with watering and weeding these Public Picks so that they thrive. Anyone is welcome to take cuttings or produce that you would like to use.

Rented Plots
Rented plots are private, please be respectful and do not harvest or tamper with these plots. Our gardeners put considerable care and effort into their spaces, so we want them to enjoy the fruits of their labor!
