Master Gardener - Sheryl Whited
Please join us on Saturday, March 23rd at 10am in the community garden for a special event with Sheryl Whited, a Tarrant County Master Gardener.
Sheryl will share her knowledge on companion planting, the practice of growing different plants together to enhance crop production, reduce pests and improve soil conditions. Sheryl has generously offered to share some seedlings, and UMW of FUMC Fort Worth will also have some seed packets to share.

February Garden Workday
Monthly garden workday to tend to your gardens, the public pick plots, tidy up and meet your fellow gardeners.
Things to do in February for your garden:
Plant seed potatoes. Seed potatoes are currently available at Russell Feed Supply
Plant cool-season vegetables:
By transplant: Broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, chinese cabbage, kohlrabi.
By seed outdoors: Beets, carrots, collard greens, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, spinach, swiss chard, turnips, radish.
Start your eggplant and pepper seeds indoors.
January Garden Work Day

Kids Yoga in the Garden
Join us as Ms. Brooke of Yogi Squad guides us through an Easter-themed yoga adventure. We’ll move our bodies and do a fun, Easter-themed craft.

Bring your Easter baskets and join us at Fairmount Community Garden's free Easter egg hunt for children ages 6 years and under. Egg hunts will start on a staggered schedule.

February Garden Workday
Welcome, new gardeners! This is a first workday for many gardeners, and we encourage current and new gardeners to tidy up your plot(s) to prepare for Spring.
We will have coffee and donuts, and some Garden Board Members will be on-site to greet and guide new gardeners.
Pumpkin Smash!

Pumpkin Painting in the Garden

If you are a gardener, farmer or community organizer in North Texas, you will not want to miss Dig Deep: A Conference for Growers!
About this event
Join Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Tarrant County Food Policy Council for another great gardening conference. We will be in-person at BRIT | Fort Worth Botanic Garden on July 17, 2021. Some virtual content will be available for those who are not able to join us on site.
Growers from across North Texas will come together in the spirit of education and passion for what the soil can produce. Dig Deep: A Conference for Growers provides a unique opportunity for growers from different fields to share experiences, knowledge and resources. All conference topics are suitable for beginner and intermediate level growers.
Whether your goal is to feed your family, share with our hungry neighbors, or enter the marketplace, this will be the learning opportunity for you. No grower in North Texas will want to miss this!

Join us for a Virtual Kitchen Garden Cooking School Harvest Series workshop to learn about the art and science of growing, preparing and enjoying fresh, healthy vegetables and fruits from your own backyard or community garden.

TAFB Virtual Session: How to Build a Raised Garden Bed
Using a raised bed for your garden is a great way to control garden soil quality, improve drainage, and reduce the weeds and pests that can harm your crops. During this workshop, you will be led through some basic safety precautions and carpentry skills before we demonstrate how to assemble a basic, wooden raised garden bed
The How to Build a Raised Garden Bed workshop will cover the following topics:
